Powered by nostalgia, the Mizuno MP20 Irons feature the purest grain flow forging process straight out of Hiroshima Japan, the location of which 50 years of Mizuno irons have been expertly crafted. Reminiscent of the legendary Mizuno TN87 Irons, Mizuno has decided to rejoice in the Copper plated years by installing this into the 2019 MP20 irons range - a unique impact sensation has been craved since the releases of the TN87, MP14, MP29 and the TP9.
Mizuno MP20 Irons
At the Valspar event, Mizuno held a blind test with their PGA Players comparing a cooper underlay prototype to an iron that didn’t feature this iconic innovation - the feedback was unanimous with all players preferring the copper plating. This sensation, coupled with the modern 1025E Forgiving process, creates an unparalleled feel and consistent performance across the face. Above the copper layered plating is a protective Nickel Chrome finish to provide that premium and authentic Mizuno design.
"We kept asking ourselves - why did players still talk about the feel of the older Mizuno blades – TN87, MP14, MP29, TP9. Despite our Grain Flow Forging process tightening up and an evolving CAD process that predicts vibration patterns – we were still missing something. The one element left from the old classics was a layer of Copper. After blind testing our players at the Valspar it was more than nostalgia - our test pool universally preferred the prototype with copper plating." - Jeff Cook.
